Chopping up a Paughco frame

We had a stock Paughco frame come in with a 6" over springer on it.. needless to say the trail was way off and the frame was not even close to how it was intended to sit. Here it is in the jig table before we cut it up.
Then we cut the back bone out and cut the down tubes and raised the neck up to our height to fit the springer. We moved it up just about 5 1/2" and left the stock rake of 36 deg.
Then we added the new backbone and slugged and sleaved the down tubes and added the new backbone brace. When cutting the neck we only removed the backbone material and nothing else to not mess up the look of Paughco's neck area.

Cincinatti

Just got back from the Vtwin show, 1500 miles in 24 hours.. Now if that was only on the bike rather than in Kari's car.. It was great seeing everyone from the lot and being part of all the mayhem that goes with it!

Machining Gears

We have a band saw that took a crap on us this week, a set screw came out and went threw the gears in the gear box and wrecked the teeth on them. So rather then buying a new saw I made the gears, I didn't have a broach for the keyway or did I have a dividing head so this is how i did it..
The bad gears
Making the blanks and broaching on the lathe
The blanks and keyways all machined
The fixture to machine the teeth, here you can see we cut two gears together and located off the original gear.
Locating the first tooth
Almost there.. one tooth at a time
All the teeth cut
All blued up and ready to test run
After 30 min of running, now they are broke in. Clean the teeth back up and they are ready for heat treating
After case hardening
All ready to go back together
